Rolex 9K Rose Gold Rare Scallop Edge 1920’s Beautiful Vintage Ladies Watch,
It is not quite so well known that Rolex was actually founded in the UK in London 1905 and it was not until 1919 that the company transferred its base of operations to Geneva, Switzerland. It is also a misconception that the world of luxury watches is a gentlemans one, as the first recorded wristwatch was actually designed for a lady. In June 1810, Abraham-Louis Breguet made a watch for Caroline Murat, Queen of Naples. For many decades, women have proudly worn Rolex watches and have been integral to the brand’s success. Recently serviced by a Rolex specialist watchmaker (Photos taken before service) this beautiful example of a ladies cocktail watch has a unique gold engine turned dial. Housed in a rare scalloped 9 carat rose Gold case from circa 1920’s. The watch has a good condition case given the age, very clean movement and good condition dial. The condition of watch case and movement indicates this watch has only ever seen very occasional and careful use. Dial: Simply Signed Rolex, engined turned gold dial is beautiful. This dial carries Breguet style Standard Arabic numerals which are swept by black pointed baton hands. This example also carries a minute railtrack around the outer edge of the dial. In overall good condition for age. Crystal: Good condition for age. Movement: The movement is signed ‘Rolex Swiss Made. The high-grade 15 Jewel hand-wound movement has recently been overhauled and is in incredibly clean condition and is keeping good time. Photos taken before service. Case: The original scalloped edge rose gold hinged case measures 25mm, excluding the correct unsigned crown. The watch case has a hinged press fit case back to reveal the movement, this fits perfectly back in. Has surface hairline scratches associated with precious polished metals commensurate with age and wear. Case Back cover Outer: Has surface hairline scratches associated with precious polished metals commensurate with age and wear. Please see photographs. Case Back Cover Inner: Marked 9C (hallmarks) numbered 275002. In good condition. Crown: The crown is correct for this watch and is unsigned, as was usual at the time. In good functioning order. Strap/Buckle: Vintage leather strap and gold plated buckle, both in good functioning order and good condition too. Presentation Box: Vintage retailers box signed ‘NUVO 9CT Hallmarked’ not sure if this is original to the watch.
